Important Update: New York Transitioning from BioTrack to Metrc

The State of New York and the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) have announced that they will discontinue the use of BioTrack and transition to Metrc as the state’s official seed-to-sale tracking system. The switch is expected to occur sometime in Q4 2025.

Currently, the OCM is requesting that all licensed New York cannabis stakeholders designate their Seed-to-Sale (STS) Administrator. This designated administrator will receive the credentials needed to access and set up the Metrc system.

Once you obtain your Metrc API key, our team at Bamboo can assist in integrating it into your Bamboo account. From there, Bamboo will automatically generate your labels and manifests, significantly reducing the manual workload. While you can still perform these tasks directly in Metrc, our automation typically saves 50–90% of the time compared to manual entry.

Please note that all stakeholders will be required to purchase tags directly from Metrc. If you previously purchased digital package or unit identifiers (tags) through BioTrack, Metrc will reimburse those once the new system is fully operational. OCM has indicated that detailed reimbursement instructions will be provided when Metrc officially goes live.

Bamboo is already fully integrated with Metrc across other states and will be ready to support all New York licensees when the transition takes effect later this year.
